On
26th April 2006 the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad in its General Body
meeting unanimously passed a Resolution in favour of naming of Road No. 7,
Banjara Hills in the name of Imam Khomainie (R.A) founder and leader of
Islamic Republic of Iran.
As such from this day onwards the city of Hyderabad is adorned with a Road
by the name of Imam Khomeinie (R.A). This was in response to the 35th
Anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of Islamic
Republic of Iran in Hyderabad. And due to the Age old relationship between
Deccan and Iran, as also some of the Roads that are named in Iran in the
name of Great personalities of India like Mahatma Gandhi and Moulana Abul
Kalam Azad.
This city of Hyderabad which was formed 400 years ago by Iranian rulers, The
Qutub Shahi’s who belonged to Hamadan City of Iran and the city of Hyderabad
was formed on the lines of city of Isfahan of Iran, the relics of which are
still existing in the form of Historical monuments, culture and Heritage of
this city.
As per the History The second name given to this city was new Isfahan and
the most famous Historical monuments built by Iranian in this city is
Charminar and Mecca Masjid. At present there are more than 2000 Iranians
domiciled in this Historical City and about 40 Iranian students are studying
at various Educatio nal institutions.
The Road where Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran is existing
will be hence called Imam Khomeinie (R.A) Road.
