Foundation stone laying and ground breaking ceremony of the Consulate office and residential block of the Islamic Republic of Iran – Hyderabad .

  

           On 4th August 2007 the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran at Hyderabad organized a function for the foundation stone laying and ground breaking ceremony of its office and residential block by the esteemed hands of His Excellency Dr. Y. S. Rajshekhar Reddy, Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at its premises at Imam Khomeini Road, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

          The program was coincided with the visit of His Excellency Mr. Sayed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Honorable Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran for India and was attended by Mr. Mohd. Ali Shabbir, Honorable Minister for Coal, Energy and Minority Welfare, Mr. Mohd. Fareeduddin, Honorable Minister fro Co-operatives, government of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, Senior Parliamentarian and President of A.I.M.I.M.

On his arrival at the Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran the Chief Minister was received by His Excellency Mr. Hossein Ravesh, Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran and His Excellency Mr. Sayed Mehdi Nabizadeh, Ambassador of Islamic republic of Iran for India and they had a brief meeting in which the matters of mutual interests were discussed after exchange of pleasantries.

The programme started by national anthems and after a brief welcome His Excellency Dr. Y. S. Rajshekhar Reddy unveiled the foundation stone by remote and later was escorted for the ground breaking by a pickaxe followed by His Excellency Mr. Nabizadeh, Mr. Mohd. Fareeduddin, His Excellency Mr. Hossein Ravesh and Mr. Altaf Haider Razvi, Member of Legislative Council, Andhra Pradesh.

 His Excellency Mr. Hossein Ravesh in his brief speech said:

       During the last three years the graph of trade between Islamic Republic of Iran and three states of Southern India shows an Increase from $120 million to $700 million out of which $370 million is in India’s favour.

In the cultural and educational field we have organized lots of seminars, exhibitions and film festivals and I would like to add here that the number of Iranian students studying in Hyderabad has increased from 9 to 100 and I hope that we will bear witness to the organization of similar programmes by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in Islamic Republic of Iran.The project of repair, binding and digitization of manuscripts by the government of Islamic Republic of Iran for the books at Oriental Manuscripts Library which was started in March this year, till date 2,70,000 documents have been repaired and digitalized.

From the political angle in the history of Andhra Pradesh four ministers of state of Andhra Pradesh have visited Islamic Republic of Iran during last three years and similarly a number of high level delegations headed by Iranian authorities visited Hyderabad which itself shows the interest of both the countries in strengthening the bilateral relationship.

 His Excellency Mr. Sayed Mehdi Nabizadeh in his speech said:

 The age-old relations, particularly the deep cultural ones, between the two great nations Iran and India are 3000 years old and I can claim that establishment of such a deep rooted relation between any two nations in the world is a very rare case.

On the basis of these relations, a new chapter has been opened in the ties between the two countries since the beginning of the current century. As a result of the exchange of high level visits during the recent years and also signing of a number of economic and strategic co-operation agreements between Iran and India the bilateral trade between the two countries has increased from $2 billion to $7 billion, of course, contribution of the southern states of India including Andhra Pradesh to this figure has been $700 million.       

 Mr. Hussain Ali Khan, Founder Secretary, Friends of Iran Society in his speech spoke about the formation of this society with an intention to strengthen the relationship between people to people of both the countries and in the city of Hyderabad especially which has 700 years of relationship with Iran and the historical monuments and the Iranian community in this city itself adds a glory to the relationship of both the countries. He further thanked the government of Andhra Pradesh and Iran in their endeavor to further strengthen and development of relationship in the fields of economic, trade, culture and education.

        The meeting was attended by the elite personalities of Andhra Pradesh, political leaders, M.L.As, M.P., educational, religious and cultural activists. It came to an end at about 07:15 p.m.
